NJCAA Selects 2019 All-Americans

The NJCAA released the 2019 Men's and Women's Soccer All-Americans Thrusday and Friday. Five men's players and one women's player were selected to this year's teams. 

On the men's side, Fitzroy Cummings, a sophomore from Iowa Western, was one of two Reivers selected by the committee. Cummings also earned All-Region and All-Tournament honors this year for the ICCAC adding to his award collection. He was a solid defender throughout the year, making a major impact in Iowa Western's road to the NJCAA Tournament.

Jovoney Brown, sophomore forward from Iowa Lakes represented his squad was also named to the First Team All-American list. Brown got to know the back of the net quite well throughout the season for Iowa Lakes, leading the ICCAC in goals with 18 which was good for 12th in the NJCAA overall. He also shared the ball well ending his season with 11 assists placing him 3rd in the ICCAC. After an impressive end to his Laker career, he was named the 2019 ICCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Year.

Iowa Central's Christian Koffi earned Second Team All-American honors as well as First Team All-Region and All-Tournament team. Similar to Brown, Koffi found himself celebrating quite often after scoring 17 goals landing him 14th overall in the NJCAA and second in the ICCAC.

The fourth representative from the ICCAC and second from Iowa Western was Damia Viader. The sophomore defender earned spot on the All-Tournament team at the National Tournament and was tagged as an Third Team All-American selection.

Viader was joined by Marshalltown midfielder from Brazil, Gustavo Leal. Leal was named to the 3rd team All-American list. From the ICCAC, he garnered First team All-Region as well as the All-Tournament team.

 

Region XI had one player named to the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer All-American list. 

First Team All-American selection Emily Murphy of Indian Hills was named to her second All-American team adding to her Honorable Mention award last year. She scorched the net leading the conference in goals scored with 37 which was also good for 5th in the NJCAA, and tying her own school record she had set in 2018. Murphy made it count when she was on the pitch, shooting her way to 4th in NJCAA in shots with 128. Murphy cemented her legacy in Indian Hills history becoming the second player in program history to earn All-American honors.
