Reivers Victorious in Coach Brown's Head Coaching Debut for Iowa Western

The Reivers got off to a flying start in the first game for Mike Brown as head coach of the Iowa Western men's soccer team. Iowa Western defeated Western Nebraska 6-0 at home on Friday in the regular season opener despite needing a while to settle in. Brown was pleased with the result, but he also noted that the offense still has room to improve. "We had some really good moments off set pieces," Brown said. "I think offensively we're still developing as a team. We had a lot more opportunities that we should have put away. We're still trying to find our identity offensively, but it's coming." Fernando Zaragoza netted a pair of goals and Nicolas Torres added two assists as the Reivers rolled to a 6-0 victory. Joel Quashie, Damia Viader, Theo Le Calve, and Sohya Yamamoto each added goals of their own in the match. After grabbing a 3-0 halftime lead, the Reivers never looked back.
