Central District Championship Info | Division I Men's Golf

WICHITA, Kan. - The two ICCAC Division I Men's Golf teams will head to Kansas to play in the 2023 Central District Championships on Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25 at Crestview Country Club in Wichita.

Joining Indian Hills and Iowa Western from the ICCAC will be seven Kansas schools, Barton County, Coffeyville, Dodge City, Fort Scott, Garden City, Hutchinson, Kansas City Kansas and Crowder in Missouri.

Indian Hills took third place to qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament, which sees the top five teams from the event advance. The Warriors were led by Frank Vucic who was second place on the leaderboard by the end of the 54 holes. Indian Hills is ranked No. 5 in the latest poll on Golf Stat -- trailing No. 2 Hutchinson and No. 4 Dodge City of the other teams in the field.

Iowa Western returns as the reigning team champion after finishing seven strokes ahead of Hutchinson at last year's event. Thomas Craig led all Reivers at 3-over par, tying for a third place finish. Gustav Sjoberg and Jason Kolbas joined Craig in the top 10, tying for seventh place at 6-over par. The Reivers are No. 19 this season and will look to fill one of the team spots this season. They are the sixth ranked group, behind the three previously mentioned, along with No. 12 Garden City and No. 18 Barton County.

There will be a new champion this season after Hutchinson's Harry Crocket owon back-to-back tournaments in 2021 and 2022. This tournament will feature a number of players in the top 10 on Golf Stat. Dominic Clemons of Hutchinson is the highest ranked at No. 2 -- with teammates Alex Lindstrom (7) and Blake Saffel (10) also in the top 10.

Taimur Malik is the highest ranked ICCAC golfer currently at No. 11, sixth-highest of those in the tournament. The Warriors have four in the top 35 including Damian Osner (27), Njoroge Kibugu (32) and Eduard Cereto (35).

Kolbas is back for Iowa Western at No. 75 -- the highest ranked Reiver.

The teams will play 36 holes on Day 1 before finishing up with 18 holes on Day 2. Tee times begin for the 10 teams at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
