Seven Teams Take on Fox Ridge

Hawkeye Community College hosted their fall invitational at Fox Ridge Golf Course on Friday. Four ICCAC men's teams attended along with two women's teams to compete at the tournament in Dike. 

Men's Results

Leading the pack and winning the tournament with a team score of 288 (E) was the Kirkwood Eagles. Coming in with a score of 70 (-2) freshman JD Pollard won the event by one stroke. Pollard was joined in the top-five by sophomore teammate James Morgan after his round of 72 (E). 

With a team score of 292 (+4), DMACC certainly challenged for the team title and were followed very closely behind by Iowa Central's team score of 293 (+5). DMACC's Joe Dean shot a 1-under par tying with Kyle Wille from Iowa Central for second place. 

Host Hawkeye broke the 300 mark with a team score of 299 (+11). The RedTails had two athletes finish tied for eighth place with Ethan Streicher and Tom Bell both shooting 1-over par. NIACC rounded out the top-five with a total score of 310 (+22). The Trojans were led by Kai Nelles who tied for 13th place shooting a 2-over par. 

 

Women's Results

The NIACC women shot a season low 349 to claim the Hawkeye Invitational team title. The Trojans were led by freshman Hailey Panos' career-low 82.  It was needed as DMACC was hot on their heels with a score of 352 and Waldorf University came close behind firing a 354. The Bears had two top-5 golfers with Lydia Steier shooting 11-over par which landed her in third place and Krista Swenson who finished right behind tying for fourth place (+13). 

Both of these ICCAC teams will look to keep playing well as they head to Ames today for the DMACC Fall Invite.
