Iowa Lakes Hosts Invite in Okoboji

Iowa Lakes hosted the Iowa Lakes Invite yesterday for both men and women at the Brooks Golf Club in Okoboji. The men's side had three teams competing and the women had one team finish with other ICCAC athletes competing as individuals.

 

Men

Results

Iowa Central was able to sneak away with a team victory over Iowa Lakes and NIACC. With a total score of 301 (+13) Iowa Central was able to beat Iowa Lakes by four strokes (305) and NIACC by nine (310). All Triton golfers shot in the 70s. Austin Erickson, Joe Foresting, and Justin Schipper shot matching 75's with Kyle Wille firing a 76 and Simon Mitchell adding a 77. 

NIACC freshman John Doherty was the individual champion with a score of 72 (E). He was joined in the top 10 by his teammate and fellow freshman JJ Wickman who shot 77 (+5).

Host Iowa Lakes also had a good day, led by freshman Scott Flatebo with his impressive 73 (+1). Fellow freshmen Jake Hemann (76) and Sam Miller (76) were the other Lakers team members to break 80 on the day.

 

Women

Results

On the women's side, Iowa Lakes was the only group to post a team score in the meet with a total of 356 (+64). Led by freshman Gretchen Hofstad who shot an 87 (+14) on the par-73 course. Freshmen Abby Gaudian and Isabella Santistevan also joined Hofstad in the top five on the individual leaderboard.

The medalist for the tournament was NIACC sophomore Thea Lunning. She shot a 12-over par 85 to win the dual. The trojans will be back on the course next Sunday at the Waldorf University Invitational at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
