ICCAC Competes at NJCAA Golf Championships

2019 Division I Men's Golf Championship @ Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, FL

At Duran Golf Club and heading into the final round, it was anyone's championship to claim. Indian Hills led the group heading into the final day, holding a team score of -29, one stroke ahead of Central Alabama. Midland and New Mexico also lingered close, just five and seven strokes behind respectively. However, the Warriors would fade, falling into second place after Central Alabama finished 14 strokes ahead of Indian Hills and ran away with a 13-stroke victory. 

Indian Hills, who took second place, was led by George Clarke finished tied for fifth individually with a total score of 281 (-7). His teammate Joe Hodgson finished tied for eighth place with a score of 283. Hodgson finished the day in Melbourne even, five under par. Indian Hills ended their season with four of the golfers gets recognized for their excellence on the green. Clarke received First Team All-American status for finishingin in the top five. Hodgson took Second Team as well as his teammate Jesse MacNaughtan, who finished in 10th place. Rounding out the runners-up was Harry Doig, who received Honorable Mention.

Iowa Western, who also competed as a team, finished in a tie for seventh place. Clay Kucera finished +1 on the weekend, tied for 27th, the Reivers' best finish in 2019. 

 

2019 Women's Golf Championship LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL

Seminole State College of Florida held on to earn their second national title in women's golf program history in this year's tournament. The Raiders ended with a team score of 900, +36, 23 strokes ahead of second place.

ICCAC was well represented in the top of the standings with Iowa Western and Iowa Lakes finishing in the top twelve teams. Iowa Western finished seventh with a score of 1048, +184 with Lisa Lied leading her team with a score of 248 (+32). That landed her a spot tied for 23rd in player standings.

Iowa Lakes finished 12th as a unit, shooting a total score of 1128. The Lakers were led by freshman Abby Stender with a score of 275, tying her for 56th. 

  

2019 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship @ Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, IN

Plymouth, Ind. was the home of the 2019 NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship and the ICCAC saw three teams finish in the top fifteen. The Kirkwood Eagles finished atop the ICCAC teams finishing 4th overall with a team score of +61 and a score 1213. ICCAC Division II Player of the Year, Ryan Morrison, finished 15th in the individual standings with a score of 299 points, ending +11 over par. Other notable Eagle golfers were Dawson Peters, who finished tied for 30th finishing 19 over par. Along with Peters, Will Babcock and Ben Epperly finished 33rd and 34th respectively.

DMACC finished 11th overall +94 with a team total of 1246. Bear's golfer Noah Hartman chipped his way to a finish of 21st ending 15 over par. Kolby Chup also finished his sophomore season shooting 22 over par.

Rounding out the well represented ICCAC, Southwestern grabbed 15th overall ending +120, and with a team total 1272 points. Oliver Pearson (+33) and Jesper Holke-Farnam (+31) were the leaders for the Spartans.
