National Champions!

Indian Hills had contributions up and down the lineup all week long and that was the case again on Friday. Three Warriors -- George Trujillo, Jakob Garstecki and Colin Pearson -- all fired one-over par 73s and Greg Stanek had a 75. Stanek just missed a par putt on the 18th hole which would have given him four straight rounds of 74. His 297 total was good enough for fourth place overall, four shots behind the co-leaders Cooper Brown of Wallace State and David Wicks of Midland.

Harrison Moore wound up tied for 30th place and IHCC didn't use his score on Friday. But he boosted the Warriors' chances with a 72 on the second day of the tourney.

Four Indian Hills golfers earned All-American status with their finishes in the national championships. Stanek made the first team while Pearson, the lone sophomore who represented IHCC in the tourney, Garstecki and Trujillo were all second-teamers.

Garstecki and Trujillo tied for 8th place and Pearson's final-round 73 left him in a tie for 12th.

The national tourney win was Indian Hills' fourth straight title of the spring season. They closed out that part of the year with first-place finishes in the Augustana and Blueboy Invites and the District III meet, before the national title run.

The Warriors brought home Division I national championships in 2011 and '12 and also won the NJCAA Division II crown in 2000.

And with four of their top five players returning, Indian Hills will enter next season as the odds-on favorite to make it four titles in five years.
