NIACC men's golf team places seventh at AIB Invite

NIACC, which shot a 318 on Saturday after a 326 on Friday, was paced by Levi Fink's 154, which was tied for eighth place individually.

Logan Jarvis tied for 25th with a 161 (79-82), Hunter Miller tied for 34th with a 164 (82-82), Kevin Trobaugh finished tied for 38th with a 165 (86-79) and Derrick Urdahl shot a 178 (88-90), good for 61st. Joe Myers, playing as an individual, shot a 175 (83-92), placing 59th.

"I was really pleased with how well Kevin Trobaugh bounced back from an 86 (Friday), shooting a 79," Frenz said. "He started out on the first hole with a triple bogey so he really kept things together on a difficult golf course."

Kirkwood's Nathan Chilcott and Grand View's Ryan Starkman each shot a 151. AIB won the team title with a 313, 11 strokes better than Kirkwood.

Meanwhile, Bellevue University won the women's team title with a 638, paced by 156s from Renee Santoyo and Natalia Soria.

NIACC's Kaitlin Koob finished 34th with a 194 (101-93), Britne Kingery was 47th with a 212 (103-109) and Mariah Dillavou was 53rd with a 231 (118-113).

"Kaitlin Koob had a nice round (Saturday) as she continues to get her scores down closer to where they need to be with the regional tournament just two weeks away," Frenz said. "I'm excited about where her game is going. This (93) is her lowest round in college and Lake Panorama is a tough golf course, so I only see good things on the horizon. She got off to a solid start and just kept her head together the entire round."

NIACC returns to action on Monday at the Iowa Central Invitational at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
