Triton Women Win Again

The women fired a 362 Monday at the Mason City Country Club. Sarah Crafton led the Tritons with a second place finish as she shot an 88. Teammates Taylor McGoldrick and Courtney Thrams were right behind in a tie for third place with 91. Meg Dehaven was fourth with a 92 and Mandi Johnson was fifth with a 93.

The win comes 24 hours after the women claimed the Iowa Lakes Invitational team title in Okoboji.

Again today we had a total team effort and came out on top," said head coach David Barwin. "Sara backed up her round yesterday with solid score in the windy conditions."

The men were again in the hunt with a 328, but NIACC (311) and Iowa Lakes (315) finished strong to edge past the Tritons. Matt Sturgill led the men with a fourth place finish with a 76. Ben Hogan was sixth with a 77, Alex Gordon was twelfth with an 81, Cody Brandau was 19th with an 83 and Brenton Pohlman was 24th with an 88.

"We struggled at times out there with the wind and missed some opportunities to score," said Barwin. "All together these two days were pretty good and we walk away knowing what to focus on."

Iowa Central is back in action this weekend as it travels to Panora to play in the AIB Invite on Friday and Saturday at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course. The two-day tournament will be a dress rehearsal for the Tritons as the Region XI Tournament will be played at the same course this spring.
