Brandau Wins Baker Challenger

The men finished fourth overall in a very tight team race. Of the teams that competed both days, Iowa Central finished third with a 637, just three strokes behind Baker University with a 634. Ben Hogan (72-82-154) finished tied for fifth, Matt Sturgill (77-84-161) tied for 13th, Jon Smiley (88-82-170) tied for 26th and Logan Lankey (88-97-185) tied for 35th.

The women, which sat in fourth after Sunday, finished third with a team score of 802,. Taylor McGoldrick (97-99-196) led the women with a 12th place finish. Meg Dehavn (96-104-200) was 14th, Mandi Johnson (99-104-203) and Courtney Thrams (100-103-203) tied for 15th and Anna Wright (102-109-211) finished 21st.

"This was a very challenging course and we played very well," said head coach David Barwin. "The conditions on day two were windy and wet. Women did an awesome job battling from fourth to get into the top three against a quality field."

Iowa Central was the only two-year program to compete in the tournament.

Iowa Central is back in action again next weekend when it travels to Okoboji for the Iowa Lakes Invitational and Monday for the NIACC Invite in Mason City.
