ICCAC Division I All-Region Released for Men's Basketball

The ICCAC Division I Men's Basketball All-Region team was announced on Monday, recognizing the best players on the three teams in the league.

Indian Hills tagged three players on the First Team, led by sophomore guard Trevion LaBeaux. The ICCACC Division I Player of the Year was the only player in the league to average a double-double, and led the league in both points and rebounds.

Offensively, LaBeaux averaged 13.4 points in 29 games played. He scored 10 or more points in 21 of 29 games with a season-high 30 points against Marshalltown on Jan. 17. He scored 20 or more points five times -- shooting over 50% from the field on the season.

On the glass he averaged 10 rebounds. He had a 19-rebound game against Coastal Alabama in mid-November, and on three other occasions pulled down 17 rebounds in a game. Eleven times he ended the game with double-doubles.

Last year, LaBeaux, the Ames, Iowa native, was an Honorable Mention selection.

Fellow Warriors that joined LaBeaux on the First Team were sophomore guards Davontae Hall and Braden Sparks. Both were one of four players from Indian Hills to average in double figures offensively, each averaging 11 points per game.

Hall turned it on in the second half of the season. He averaged 16.9 points per game in the month of February, three times putting in 20 or more points, twice going for his season-best 22. He added 3 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Sparks was a consistent threat for the balanced Warrior attack in 2023-24. Notably, he had his biggest game in the Region 11 Championship when he scored 27 points against Southeastern to help the Warriors advance to the District Championship. In his last three games of the season heading into the NJCAA National Tournament, he is averaging 18.6 points per game. Peripherally, he averaged 3.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists, best on the team.

Southeastern placed the other two players on the First Team in Jacob Franklin and Olajuwon Ibrahim

Franklin was the Blackhawks second-leading scorer on the season (12.3 ppg). Against Indian Hills he averaged 17.3 points in three contests. Four times he scored 20 or more points while averaging 4.2 rebounds for the season.

Ibrahim was third on the team in scoring for a team that had four players average in double figures. The sophomore averaged 11 points per game on 66.5 percent from the field, the league's highest shooting percentage. He was fourth in rebounding at 7.8 per game and was the conference leader in blocks with 89.

Ibrahim came on strong at the end of the year scoring in double figures 12 of the last 13 games.

Marshalltown's best player this season was Rob Keys, and received Second Team All-Region honors. The conference second leading scorer averaged 13.1 points per game.

Rounding out the top honors for the 2023-24 season was first year head coach Josh Sash. Sash helped lead Indian Hills to a 27-5 record heading into the NJCAA National Tournament for the 19th time.

They finished in the top 10 in the NJCAA ranking and won both the Region 11 Championship and North Central District Championship for the first time since 2022.
