ICCAC to Host Summer Recruiting Series

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference is set to host two basketball recruiting events in the Des Moines area the final weekends in June. The ICCAC Men's & Women's Summer Recruiting Series will be held June 21-23 at Johnston High School and June 28-30 at Grand View University as well as North and East High School.

Participants will be made up of NJCAA student-athletes who are under a current letter of intent or were enrolled this past spring, currently this summer or this coming fall, ranging from graduating sophomores to incoming freshmen.

The recruiting period opens each weekend to all NCAA and NAIA coaches beginning on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and ending Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

In addition to scheduled practice times, games are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Two rounds of games on Saturday will be played at 1:00 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, games will run all day, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the last game starting at 3:00 p.m.

Cost of admission is tiered for coaches. NCAA Division I admission is $200, Division II admission is $150, and Division III/NAIA $100. All admission comes with a recruiting packet and access to the hospitality room.

Beyond Sports Network (BSN) National Scouting Combine has entered into a partnering agreement with the NJCAA Summer Recruiting Series to provide athletes with testing similar to professional league combines. Friday, June 21, athletes will have their height, weight, wingspan, and standing reach measured. Saturday, June 22, athletes will participate in the following individual testing: ¾ Court Sprint, Reactive Shuttle Run, Vertical Jump, Lane Agility and TRAZER (Neuromechanical Screening Test).

The data collected will provide the NCAA & NAIA coaches with a true BSN IPA (Individual Performance Assessment). The BSN IPA will complement the NJCAA information packet with an in-depth analysis of the athlete's ability.

Along with the testing and on-court work, student-athletes will get to hear from two keynote speakers. The first weekend will feature Paul Biancardi, a former basketball coach at Ohio State and Wright State, and current ESPN National Recruiting Director for Boys High School Basketball.

The second weekend will feature Fran Fraschilla, a current ESPN basketball analyst and a former NCAA Division I head coach at New Mexico, St. Johns, and Manhattan.

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference would like to thank the sponsors for their support of the June Recruiting Series; Catch Des Moines, Prairie Meadows, Dr. Dish, Beyond Sports Network and Marriott.
