Division II Men's Basketball All-Region Honors Awarded

The 2018-19 Division II Region XI Men's Basketball All-Region teams were announced. Iowa Lakes, No. 2 Kirkwood and No. 7 NIACC all contributed two athletes to the First Team list. DMACC and Iowa central had one player make the All-Region First Team.

Kirkwood not only had two players make the cut but to top it off one of those players was named the 2018-19 ICCAC Player of the Year. Douglas Wilson (Des Moines, Iowa) led his team in points scored as he averaged 20.8 per game. Wilson is ranked third in the nation for his field goal percentage, sinking 67.7 percent of his shots. The sophomore has scored 623 points throughout the course of the season, currently ranking 12th in the nation. Wilson also managed to 53 blocks and 32 steals through regional tournament play.

Allante Pickens (Chicago, Ill.) was the second leading scorer for the Eagles. In 29 games, Pickens averaged 11.4 points per game during the first 31 games. His efficient shooting percentages contributed to his season-ending honor. From the floor, Pickens averaged 43.9 percent, take a look at his feet behind the arch and his percentage barely changes, totaling 42 percent. Pickens also shot 73.3 percent from the free-throw line.

NIACC's two honorees were freshmen Deundra Roberson (Columbia Heights, Minn) and Quentin Hardrict (Minneapolis, Minn.), respectively, as they led the Trojans in scoring. Roberson averaged 16.6 points per game, with some impressive shooting averages. From two-point range, Roberson averaged sinking 51.7 percentage of his shots and from behind the arch, 39.5 percent.

Hardrict was not far behind as he averaged 15.5 points per game. The freshman controlled the ball as he totaled 161 assists, 10th most in Division II NJCAA.

Iowa Lakes contributed two athletes to the All-Region First Team as well.

The Lakers' freshman, Kevin Jennings (Grand Prairie, Texas) was their leading scorer this season. Jennings played in all 31 games and averaged 16.2 points per game. With impressive shooting percentages, he shot 51.2 percent the floor and 42.2 percent from behind the arch.

The six feet six-inch-tall Solomon Clayton (Fort Dodge, Iowa) dominated on the court for the Lakers all season long. Clayton earned an outstanding 60.1 field goal percentage, making 170 of his 283 shots. The sophomore was a monster down low and Iowa Lakes could always count on him to gain possession. Ending his season ranked 21st in the nation, Clayton fought hard for 272 rebounds, averaging 8.5 per game.

DMACC's guard Tray Buchanan (East Moline, Ill.) earned his First Team honors thanks to his impressive play all season long. Buchanan led the Bears in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game, third most in the ICCAC.

He did much of his damage from the free throw line – he ranks third in the nation in free throws made, shooting 165-202 (81.7 percent). The sophomore tallied up 602 points and 131 rebounds throughout the season.

Iowa Central's Royshawn Webb (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) worked hard all season to earn his First Team honor. Starting all 31 games, Webb averaged 15.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. The sophomore shot an impressive 50.3 percent from field goal range, as well as 32.4 percent from behind the arch. Webb also managed 75 assists and 19 steals.

The All-Region teams are selected by coaches vote, in which a coach votes on the nominees and cannot vote from their own players.
