2018 Football All-Conference Released

 

The ICCAC announced the 2018 All-Conference team on Thursday morning. The team featured 27 players recoginized for their performances this season. 

Iowa Western led the way with 10 selections to the All-Conference squad this year. The Reivers once again were fantastic on both sides of the ball after finishing the regular season with a 9-1 record.

On offense for the Reivers, quarterback TJ Starks, wide receivers Nick Singleton and Michael Zachary helped pace a Reiver offense that averaged 30 points per game (29th in NJCAA) and 374.7 yards per game (24th in NJCAA). 

Singleton was voted as the coaches as the 2018 ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year. With 61 catches, the sophomore is third in the NJCAA in receptions this season just five behind the nation's leader. He racked up 777 yards and scored four touchdowns. He caught four or more passes in every game this year, going over the century mark in receiving yards in four games as well. 

Zachary was on the receiving end for plenty of passes too, grabbing 51 total receptions on the year which ranks him 10th overall in the NJCAA. He led the conference in receiving touchdowns with eight. Zachary was also recognized as the league's top return man, in particular for his work as the punt returner, where he returned 35 punts for 400 yards. 

Under center, Starks accumulated over 1500 yards passing this season, ranking him 21st in the NJCAA. He was also the Iowa Western's leading rusher, accumulating 407 yards on the ground. 

Josh Wegener was also recognized as one of the top linemen in the league, leading an offensive line unit from his center position.

Defensively for Iowa Western, linebacker Willie O'Hara, defensive linemen Elijah James and Atlias Bell, and defensive backs Daniel Isom and Korey Hernandez were All-Conference selections. 

James was selected as the 2018 ICCAC Defensive Player of the Year. He tallied 8.5 sacks this season (15th in NJCAA), and 70 sack yards (11th in NJCAA) to round out an impressive season. Over 30% of his 51 total tackles resulted in a loss of yards. 

O'Hara was one of the nation's best tacklers this season, totaling 127 total tackles and averaging 12.7 per game to rank him 2nd in the NJCAA in both categories. 

Bell had an outstanding season for Iowa Western, ranking 19th in the NJCAA for sacks with eight on the season, and also had a fumble return touchdown this season. 

Isom and Hernandez both had great seasons as well patrolling the defensive backfield for the Reivers. Both corners had at least one interception, helping Iowa Western reach their total of 14 interceptions (19th in NJCAA).

On special teams for Iowa Western, punter Hunter Pinegar led the way this season, averaging 35.9 yards a punt, with a long of 60. Pinegar also handled most of the kicking duties as well for the Reivers, making 75% of his field goals this season.

 

Iowa Central had ten total selections on the All-Conference team this season.

On offense for the Tritons, running back Draven Peeples, wide receivers Rashad Witty and Emmanuel Logan-Greene, as well a pair of offensive lineman in Myron Cunningham and Brishaun Horne earned First Team All-Conference honors.

Peeples rushed 150 times (19th in NJCAA) for 621 yards this season ranking him 34th in the NJCAA. Peeples was an integral part of an Iowa Central rushing attack that totaled 1590 yards this season.

Greene and Witty tallied 761 and 608 yards respectively, to pace an Iowa Central passing attack that totaled 2589 yards through the air this year. The pair accounted for 11 of Iowa Central's 25 touchdowns passing this season. Green hauled in 64 receptions this year to rank him 2nd in the NJCAA, and Witty caught 51 passes, ranking him 10th in the NJCAA. The duo both had a long reception of over 80 yards this season (Greene 92 yards, Witty 80 yards). 

Cunningham and Horne were a fierce duo of lineman for an Iowa Central offensive attack that totaled 4182 yards of offense (10th in NJCAA), averaging 380 per game which ranked them 21st in all of NJCAA football.

Defensively for Iowa Central, linebackers Spencer Cuvelier and Daquan Cross, and lineman Michael Slater led the way this season. 

Cuvelier was a mainstay on this defense, totaling 90 total tackles, ranking him 12th in the NJCAA, as well as 3.5 sacks on the year. 

Cross had a great year for the Triton defense, totaling 6.5 sacks (37th in NJCAA), and 72 total tackles (41st in NJCAA). Slater was a turnover specialist for Iowa Central, tallying two interceptions, both for touchdowns, as well as two fumble recoveries this season. Slater also had 6.5 sacks on the year to boot. 

On special teams for the Tritons, kicker Luke Noonan and long snapper Devon Clark were All-Conference selections this season. Noonan had a solid season, booting in 85% of his PATs, and connecting on four field goals with a long of 47. 

Clark was a model of consistency snapping the ball for Iowa Central, playing in nine games on the year. 

 

Ellsworth rounded out the team with seven selections on First Team All-Conference in 2018. 

Offensively, wide receiver Jordan Foster led the Panthers, snagging 37 receptions (31st in NJCAA), totaling up 452 receiving yards to go along with four touchdowns on the year. 

Solomon Pierce was one of the best linemen in the conference this season, making his presence felt in the trenches for a Panthers team that fought hard all season long. 

Defensively for the Panthers, linebacker Ali Shockley was a force to be reckoned with this season. Shockley finished 2nd in the NJCAA in solo tackles with 89 on the year, to go along with 124 total tackles which rank him 3rd in the NJCAA. 

Defensive lineman Keonte Schad was a solid presence on the Ellsworth defensive line this season, only playing in six games due to injury. Schad totaled 23 tackles and had two fumble recoveries in limited time this year. A two-year player, Schad made a huge impact when on the field. 

Defensive back Marchalo Judge was a ballhawk this year for the Panthers tallying five interceptions leading the ICCAC in that category and ranking him 7th in NJCAA.

Naeem Smith patrolled the defensive backfield with Judge this season, finishing with 61 tackles on the season to go along with 1.5 sacks, an impressive total for a defensive back.
