ICCAC Wraps Up Summer Series

DES MOINES, Iowa - The 2019 ICCAC June Recruiting Series concluded this weekend at Grand View Unversity & East High School in Des Moines.

The multi-weekend basketball recruiting event consisted of 40 teams, both men and women, over the course of both weekends participating in scrimmages, practices, and speaking events.

Student-athletes and coaches were greeted at the start of each event by the keynote speakers, ESPN's Fran Fraschilla, and Paul Biancardi. The two spoke to the student-athletes on a variety of topics including the value of character, what it takes to be a Division I student-athlete, media training and social media engagement.

Besides basketball and athletics, Kurt Hunsaker, the head of compliance at Iowa State University, addressed to the student-athletes and coaches on 2-4 and 4-2-4 transfer rules and other academic requirements, shedding light on what you should do to prepare to be a four-year transfer student-athlete.

The first weekend also included a combine circuit, hosted by Beyond Sports Network, a national scouting combine company. The student-athletes were put through various stations to measure verticle leap, 3/4 court sprints, and other speed & quickness tests. Dr. Dish, also had a presence at each event, even giving away a shooting machine to one of the teams in a raffle.

Each team played five games over the course of the three-day events, seeing teams from all over the Midwest including Michigan, Ohio, Arkansas and North Dakota.

The student-athletes were evaluated by over 40 four-college coaches from around the country, 32 of them from Division I NCAA level institutions.

The events were two of the eight NJCAA sanctioned Summer Recruiting Series events hosted across the country. In the first year of opportunity to host such events, four other sites partook; Wallace State-Hanceville (Ala.), Tyler (Texas), Chandler-Gilbert (Ariz.) and Georgia Highlands.
